Welcome To Nero&Me
Everyone is a book, these are some of our stories.
So, it’s been a year now since we left on a bike for two amazing expeditions.
One around the Uk which was the first last year. We did a total of 4500km over 4 and a half months.
Our second trip was from England to South Portugal. We covered France, Spain and Portugal on that trip from March of this year to July.
Now, Nero and I are trying to paddle board down the Danube ! This is our first SUP expedition and so far it has been one of the hardest things we have attempted !!
We have such a short time on this beautiful earth and there is so much to see. When I started travelling with Nero, this was very much a personal journey and it still is. However now we realize that sharing our experiences with the world is just as important as living them for ourselves in the moment.
Christopher McCandless is right, “Happiness is only real when shared” !
A bit more about us…
Who is Nero
Nero crawled into my life back in 2010. I say ‘into’, he was the only one in his litter that didn’t try and lick me to death! At aged 8 weeks, he walked away from me! Who’d knew that reverse psychology would work here. Four years later and he’s still running away from me. Generally because I’m throwing a Frisbee. Words will never describe this dog or how special he is. I hope someday you all get to meet him.
It is, quite simply, all about the journey! Having stopped five miles short of Lands End and fifty miles short of John O’ Groats. It’s not the destinations, but meeting the people while we try to visit everywhere. I strongly feel it’s about the people, the memories, the surprises and living for those moments that take your breath away. It’s about being open to new situations and embracing everything positive. I can’t tell you what they will be or when they will happen, trust me though, one day they will!
My inspiration Is you
So let me be honest with you, way back when almost at the start I wanted something. Something silly, bragging rights perhaps! To say I had cycled Britain and quickly, maybe to prove…to prove what? That’s when I slowed down, looked around and met you – All of you! This is why I still pedal. It’s why my little legs carry me so far, I feel you all inspire me. So far I’ve fallen in love with my country; however Nero and I are going a little further.
Leaving the Baggage
My life is about simplicity, finding out what we need and shedding the baggage. Literally and emotionally. Literally all I have is a tent, my stove, some clothes and a bike. Well let’s just say smiling comes a lot easier when you don’t have to pay bills or fix your car. As long as we’re warm, fed and dry – all we will ever need is adventure.
